Stipends
Full-time
academic appointees are not normally eligible to receive additional
compensation for activities related to their recognized duties,
except that in certain cases members of the faculty may receive honoraria for lectures or other services.

Honoraria
The
Executive Vice Chancellor is delegated the authority to approve
payment of honoraria of up to $1,000 per event for one or more
days, and to approve exceptions up to $2,000 per event.
The
Executive Vice Chancellor is delegated the authority to approve
payment of honoraria to members of the faculty, in accordance
with Section 666 of the Academic Personnel Manual. All requests
for payment of honoraria to University faculty members should
be forwarded to the Executive Vice Chancellor through the Office
of Academic Personnel.
Vice
Chancellors, Academic Deans, and the Director, UCI Medical Center
are delegated the authority to approve payment of honoraria of
up to $1,000 to individuals who are not University faculty members.
This authority may not be redelegated further.
Generally,
an honorarium is a payment or an award granted in recognition
of a special service or distinguished achievement for which custom
or propriety forbids any fixed business price to be set.
In
order to avoid misunderstandings, it is recommended that the amount
of the honorarium be specified in an agreement or in correspondence
with the individual who will receive the honorarium. A copy of
the agreement or correspondence should accompany the request for
payment.
