IRVINE: EXECUTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR
April 15, 2005
ACADEMIC DEANS
RE: Redelegation - Recall Appointments for Academic Appointees
Effective immediately, the Executive Vice Chancellor is redelegating
additional authority to Academic Deans to approve pre-retirement
appointments for faculty recalled for Post Retirement Teaching.
The Academic Personnel Manual Section 200-22, Recall Appointments
for academic appointees has been revised. The new Pre-Retirement
Guidelines for Faculty Recalled for Post-Retirement Teaching is
found in Appendix A. These guidelines apply to faculty who are
age 60 or above and have at least five years of University of
California Retirement Plan (UCRP) service credit at the time the
recall appointment is negotiated.
While the recall period may be up to three academic years, the
appointment should be reflected in the Payroll-Personnel System
one academic year at a time. The recall appointment is subject
to renewal after the first initial multiple year period.
Appendix B, describes the changes made in 2003 to the UCRP Normal
Retirement Age and the effect on post-retirement appointments.
The revised delegation and both APM 200, Appendices A and B are
attached.
If you have any questions concerning the delegations, please
don't hesitate to contact me at 824-7371 or via electronic mail
to hkillack@uci.edu.
